We want to help build a world where digital infrastructure serves local communities in the spirit of subsidiarity and sustainability.
We resist the model of one-size-fits-all solutions paid for by brokering data offered by many of the world’s corporations since it does not respect individual or cultural differences, threatens the safety of marginalized groups, and restricts movement to better platforms.
We also see the limitations of the individualistic model of self-hosting, where software is free (as in speech) only to those with expertise and resources.
In the spirit of subsidiarity, we address problems in our corner of the globe, while sharing our knowledge and solutions freely with the rest of the world.
In the spirit of sustainability, we advocate for restoring and reusing obsolete hardware, and running digital infrastructure with low requirements and a small footprint.
As a member of the Co-op Cloud Federation, we share its vision:
A world where it’s much easier to host technology services, creating local, community-run and participatory tech hosters, enabling more and more people to use services provided in the public interest, instead of ones operated by predatory advertising or planned obsolescence companies.
